Pond Lake And Stormwater Management Services

Pond and lake maintenance, fountains, aeration, shoreline work, and Homeowners Association stormwater pond upkeep across High Point and its four-county footprint — from Oak Hollow Lake and Emerywood to the Randleman watershed and Jamestown.

THE LOCAL PROBLEM

High Point Spans Four Counties and Three Lakes. Its Water Is More Complicated Than It Looks.

High Point is one of the few cities in North Carolina that spans four counties — Guilford, Davidson, Forsyth, and Randolph — which means properties on different sides of town can fall under different stormwater jurisdictions. The city owns three lakes (Oak Hollow, High Point City Lake, and a stake in Randleman Reservoir through the Piedmont Triad Regional Water Authority), and the watershed protection rules around those lakes are some of the strictest in the Triad.

Oak Hollow Lake is the recreational anchor — fishing, boating, and the golf course that wraps around its eastern shore. High Point City Lake is the quieter, older sibling. Randleman Reservoir is the regional drinking-water source, and the watershed protection zone around it has real teeth — 12% built-upon-area limits in the lower watershed. The Emerywood and Sedgefield neighborhoods have some of the oldest pond infrastructure in the city. The Skeet Club Road corridor and newer developments toward Jamestown have the newest. Rich Fork, Richland Creek, and the Deep River carry most of the city’s runoff south and east.

High Point is on our regular route. Oak Hollow to Jamestown, we cover the four-county footprint.

Three city-owned lakes and a regional reservoir. High Point’s water story is bigger than it looks.

Most Homeowners Association ponds benefit from a yearly walk-through and a written report.

Four counties, three lakes, two river basins. Which side your pond is on matters.

Older Emerywood and Sedgefield ponds are showing their age. Forebays and shorelines need work.

Oak Hollow and City Lake see algae. Subdivision ponds get it worse. We treat both.

Services in High Point

Everything a High Point Pond Could Reasonably Need.

Five service areas, one crew that knows the difference between a koi pond and a stormwater control measure. Most High Point properties need a mix — a little algae management, a fountain tune-up, a shoreline patch, and a current inspection on file. Pick a tab to see what each one actually involves.

Stormwater Pond Care & SCM Compliance

Most High Point HOA ponds are legally stormwater control measures. Guilford County and NCDEQ expect them inspected, documented, and maintained. We handle the engineering side so your board does not have to learn it.

  • Annual and as-needed SCM inspections with photo documentation
  • Outlet structure, riser, and forebay cleanouts
  • Sediment removal and re-grading when capacity drops
  • Erosion repair on embankments and emergency spillways
  • Inspection reports formatted for County and state submittal

Pond and Lake Management Across Guilford County

From half-acre subdivision ponds in Sedgefield to larger amenity ponds in Emerywood and Eagle Crest, we treat every waterbody as its own system.

  • Water quality testing and seasonal monitoring
  • Nutrient management and algae prevention
  • Aquatic vegetation control
  • Fish habitat and stocking guidance
  • Seasonal maintenance programs

Aeration and Fountains, Built for High Point Summers

High Point heat is rough on ponds. The right aeration setup keeps the water moving, helps reduce algae pressure, and supports healthier fish habitat.

  • Bottom diffused aeration design and installation
  • Floating fountain selection and installation
  • Spray pattern programming and seasonal swaps
  • Compressor service, line repair, and diffuser replacement
  • Winterization and spring startup

Repairs and Restoration for Older High Point Ponds

A lot of High Point subdivision ponds were built in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Many are now due for structural, shoreline, and sediment work.

  • Sediment removal and forebay dredging
  • Outlet structure repair and replacement
  • Shoreline stabilization with riprap or bioengineered banks
  • Spillway and emergency overflow work
  • Full pond drawdown and restoration projects

Algae and Weed Control Across High Point

Green water, brown mats, and cattails taking over the bank are some of the most common calls we get. We treat them carefully, not just chemically.

  • Filamentous and planktonic algae treatment
  • Blue-green algae rapid response
  • Submersed weed treatment
  • Emergent vegetation thinning for cattails and lily pads
  • Licensed and insured aquatic application

FROM OAK HOLLOW TO THE RANDLEMAN RESERVOIR

A High Point Pond Can Touch Four Counties and One Reservoir.

Depending on where you sit, your pond may drain toward the protected Randleman Reservoir under strict limits. We keep the structures sound and the right county’s paperwork current so the pond stays an amenity instead of a liability.

Local Authority

Why High Point Owners Pick a Crew That Knows the Four-County Footprint.

Where the Water Goes in High Point

High Point’s hydrology is surprisingly complex for a mid-sized Piedmont city. The city spans four counties — Guilford (the largest share), Davidson, Forsyth, and Randolph — and its runoff feeds both the Cape Fear and Yadkin-Pee Dee basins. Rich Fork, Richland Creek, and the Deep River carry most of the flow south and east toward Randleman Reservoir, the Piedmont Triad Regional Water Authority’s drinking-water source. The Randleman watershed is protected by WS-IV overlay districts with a general 24% built-upon-area limit and a stricter 12% limit in the lower watershed. Oak Hollow Lake and High Point City Lake serve as both recreational amenities and secondary water supply. Properties in different corners of High Point can fall under different county stormwater jurisdictions — Guilford, Davidson, Forsyth, or Randolph — which is one of those details a statewide vendor usually misses.

High Point Properties and Neighborhoods We Know

We know the established neighborhoods — Emerywood, Sedgefield (shared with Greensboro), the Oak Hollow Lake waterfront, and the Country Club area. We know the Skeet Club Road corridor, Eagle Crest, Brookdale, and the newer builds toward Jamestown. On the commercial side, we know the Market showroom district, High Point University, the Ralph Lauren furniture operations, and the manufacturing sites along South Main and Kivett Drive. If your property has a pond in the High Point city limits — regardless of which of the four counties it falls in — we have likely worked one nearby.

A Few Things About High Point That We Like

High Point is the kind of city that does one thing better than anyone else on earth and does not brag about it all that loudly. The Market brings the entire global furniture industry to town twice a year, and then High Point goes back to being a quiet, friendly Triad city with good barbecue and three lakes. High Point University has transformed the North University Parkway corridor into something genuinely impressive. Oak Hollow Lake on a Saturday morning is one of the better places to fish in the Piedmont. And the fact that this city spans four counties and two river basins — and most people do not even know it — is exactly the kind of detail that makes working here interesting.

Waterbodies We Know by Name

A few months ago, we transitioned to Clearwater as our pond vendor, and the experience has been nothing short of exceptional. Their service is outstanding! Tyler does an incredible job maintaining our 14 ponds, and Trever is always a pleasure to work with. Both go above and beyond to assist whenever needed, and their dedication is truly appreciated. I highly recommend Clearwater Lake & Pond!

FAQS

High Point Questions. High Point Answers.

Do you actually work in High Point, or mostly the bigger Triad cities?

High Point is on our regular route. We work the Oak Hollow Lake area, Emerywood, Skeet Club Road, the Market district, and the Jamestown side of the city regularly. Greensboro and Winston-Salem are also on our route, but High Point is not a side trip for us.

My High Point property is in Davidson County, not Guilford. Does that matter?

It can. High Point spans four counties, and the stormwater jurisdiction depends on which county your parcel falls in. We are familiar with the stormwater programs in all four — Guilford, Davidson, Forsyth, and Randolph — and file paperwork to the correct one. Most statewide vendors do not know to check.

What is the Randleman watershed restriction, and does it affect my property?

The Randleman Reservoir watershed is protected by WS-IV overlay districts that limit built-upon area to 24% (general) or 12% (lower watershed). If your property falls inside that zone, your stormwater pond may face stricter design and maintenance scrutiny. We are familiar with those requirements and factor them into our approach.

My High Point pond turned green this summer. Is that a problem?

Green water is common in Piedmont summers. Filamentous algae mats are mostly cosmetic. Planktonic blooms can drop oxygen and stress fish overnight. Blue-green blooms can be a real health concern for kids and pets. Send us a photo and we can usually tell you what you are looking at quickly.

How do I get a quote for my High Point property?

Tell us about it and we will come look. Use the request form below or call (704) 450-1598. For pond work, the year built and whether the pond is HOA-owned or owner-maintained cover the basics. If you know which county your property falls in, let us know — it saves a step. We do not quote sight-unseen on anything serious.
